Unfortunately, there seems to be no end in sight to the fires raging in California. More than 14,000 firefighters have been battling over a dozen major fires up and down the state. The fires have charred more than 640,000 acres making this the worst fire season in California's history. International firefighters from New Zealand and Australia have joined in the fight to save our communities which emphasizes the incredible amount of manpower needed to keep these fires in check. Fortunately, Sutter and portions of Yuba Counties are largely exempt from such fires. With 100's of acres of flooded rice fields, green orchards and irrigated pastures the chances of wildfires reaching our communities is slim. However, we did have a recent scare in our own Sutter Buttes Mountains; dubbed, the "smallest mountain range in the world". A large grass fire engulfed the dry plant life which burned close to 1000 acres. The fire was quickly contained and did not spread to neighboring towns like Sutter.

Our local Board of Realtors is holding it's yearly clothes for kids drive and supplying clothes for local area children.
